Mendocino Village sits on a headland above the Pacific and looks so much like coastal New England that television used it as Maine for twelve years.

This collection is our California bear flag design, made for Mendocino, on shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, hooded tees, crop sweatshirts, mugs, travel mugs, tumblers, pint glasses, wine glasses, blankets, totes, stickers and wall flags.

The village was built by lumber money in the 1850s, went quiet when the mills closed, and was rediscovered by artists who kept the Victorians standing instead of replacing them. The water towers are still on the skyline. The headlands wrap the whole town in open bluff, which is why it never sprawled.

Fort Bragg is up the road with Glass Beach, where a century of dumped bottles got tumbled into something people now drive hours to look at. The Skunk Train still runs inland through the redwoods. And Anderson Valley over the ridge grows some of the best cool-climate wine in the state.

Highway 1 gets there eventually. That's part of the appeal.
