It was the Valley of Heart's Delight before it was Silicon Valley — orchards from the foothills to the bay, more fruit than anywhere in the world. The name changed, the sprawl arrived, and the city ended up bigger than San Francisco while never getting talked about half as much. It's the most Vietnamese city in America outside Vietnam. It has a downtown that keeps almost happening. The Sharks fill the tank in a way that would surprise anyone who thinks this is a company town.
