Collection: Santa Barbara Apparel

Santa Barbara looks the way it does because of an earthquake.

This collection is our California bear flag design, made for Santa Barbara, on shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, hooded tees, crop tops, crop sweatshirts, mugs, travel mugs, tumblers, pint glasses, wine glasses, blankets, totes, stickers and wall flags.

In 1925 a quake flattened most of downtown, and the city decided to rebuild the whole thing in one style. That's why State Street runs white stucco and red tile for a mile and a half — not an accident of history but a deliberate civic decision that held for a century.

The coastline here faces south, which almost none of California does. It's why the light is different, why the beaches get sun all afternoon, and why people call it the American Riviera without entirely embarrassing themselves. The mountains come down close behind, so the whole city is squeezed into a strip between the ridge and the water.

Printed on demand in the US, shipped in a few days.

Up and down the coast: San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles and the statewide California collection.
